It's a long shot but do you know this romance novel?
In the late 90s, I bought an awesome romance novel at the drugstore I worked at. It had a dark-haired man in a grey suit bending over with his hands on a desk. The main character is the son of a multi-millionaire, but he works at some company and does not let anyone know who his parents are. I think the setting is in Minnesota or somewhere Midwestern-y. The woman he hooks up with has red hair and admires him from afar before meeting him for real, but I forget how they get together. They go to her parents' house and I think her mom is dead and they go to the cemetery to see her grave. Toward the end of the novel, his mother comes to visit and lands at the local airport, which makes the news. The girlfriend figures out who he is and stops speaking to him because he lied to her. I think his mother intervenes and convinces her to take him back.

I know this description sounds kind of generic, but I'm remembering the best I can. It has some great sex scenes and I am lamenting to this day that I gave it away. What was I thinking? Can you guys help me figure out which book this was?

The closest thing I've ever read to a romance novel was Anne Rice. But you might check with the ladies at the Smart Bitches, Trashy Books blog! They seem to know their stuff.
